The Space Between Us

Of Thibaut Buccellato

"I came across nearly a year ago a text of an American blogger who 'at 22 years old, refused to devote her life to someone else', I got in touch with and I've decide to make a video on it, with a new text that she has written especially for the video."

THE CAUSE

The Discourse of Emotional Abuse: A Denunciation of Unspoken Facts

by Aastha Tyagi

This film presents a type of abuse that is the most common - and yet the least talked about. Unlike broken bones and bruises, emotional abuse does not leave physical scars. This makes it harder for people to discuss it, although its impact is just as, or even more, severe with long-lasting negative effects on one's confidence and self-esteem.

The biggest problem that survivors feel when dealing with this type of abuse is that people around them do not tend to take them seriously. Moreover, our society is constructed in a way that a lot of abusive behaviour in relationships becomes normalised and hence accepted. "Broken" highlights this issue and wants to open up a platform for a larger discourse on emotional abuse.
