The idea around the short-film “Broken”,directed by Aastha Tyagi, is to denounce emotional abuse in a way that people won’t be scared off by such a serious and heavy issue. The film focuses on a young woman leading a common life whom can be identified with by any of us. This woman, Sia, is psychologically Broken, but this burden that she has to carry unexpectedly helps her break free her from he toxic relationship. The broken glass shakes her out of her misery. Carrying a strong meaning the film spreads a message of hope, of an emotional liberation. The light at the end of the tunnel is reachable, be brave, follow it and you won’t be Broken anymore.

The group of unexperienced and dedicated students that we are produced altogether the final project that you have here. The main objective of doing so was as much to create a film than the whole experience itself. We gave ourselves the chance to learn and mostly practice skills that we could not pick up on during our studies as we are restricted to our specialisation. We are through this film taking our professional life in hands and are given ourselves the possibility to get involved in film-making. Therefore students with political, literary and even scientific background contributed in the making of “Broken".
